First off, Will my uk Discover Card work in the us? Many thanks for any answer or 2. Another quick question... Okay, let's see if I can explain this clearly. I'm sorry if it is confusing. I'm confused myself as to how to handle this one:.

I have showing on my CR an unpaid CO, Chase account I knew nothing about until I was contacted by their supposed CA recently..

I have a feeling that this is actually from a LOC account I had with WAMU, which was opened more than 10 years ago (my oldest account),but I have no real way of knowing. There are two separate account numbers for the two TL's, I only recognize the WAMU one..

What I want:.

I am more than willing to work out payment arrangements for the old WAMU LOC (which is showing up as Pays as agreed, account closed by credit grantor, with one 30 day late showing) in exchange removing the part about closed by credit grantor, and deletion of the Chase TL mentioned above, if it could be proved that they are in deed for the same amount. Also, of course, for the CA not to enter yet another TL about this same amount. Is this too much to ask ? .

What I've done so far:.

Last week, I asked for a lot of validation from the CA, including proof that I opened the account, and a number of other things. This was well within 30 days of first contact from the CA. I have not yet heard back from them. The CA is not yet showing on my CR..

I'm unsure what the right next move would be. Should I dispute the Chase account (OC) with the CRA's as no knowledge of account now, or wait to see what the CA comes up with ? Suggestions please...

Yep, however you might wanna make sure and wait for someone else here to confirm this as I am on the fence. Better yet, why don't you e-mail the Discover Card guys because they can help better...

This is what I like to call the "Waiting game" you just have to wait and see what the CA sends you. Sometimes they send you what they "think" is validation in a few weeks, others it takes several months..

As for the letter you sent to the CA, please tell me that it was not one of those Cut/paste cookie cutter letters that ask for everything under the sun?.

And one last thing, when does the Co show it charged off/DofD?.

If you feel you must do "something" have you opted out/deleted all old address etc?.

Thanks for you help. My letter to the CA was definitely not cut & paste. I did ask for a list of specific information I wanted validated because I have legitimate questions about this Chase account. Including what they have with my name on it opening this account & What kind of account it is..

It is showing as opened in 12/08, then immediately went 30, 60, 90, 120, etc. until charge-off 10/09. So it's very recent & killing my credit!..

Oh, and one more thing I forgot to mention. The CA did a hard pull on my credit, so I have no way of knowing if they were actually even assigned to collect this or if they are just scamming pulling stuff off my report to try to get some easy money. I did check and they are a licensed CA in my state...

I was wondering if some version of a 1-2 punch might work in this case, but since the CA is not yet reporting to the CRA , could I dispute directly with Chase for the same effect?.

In other words, If Chase retained this CA, and I DV'd the CA, anything they use to "validate" will have to come from Chase, right? So does that mean I can handle this as if it were an OC and use the 1-2 punch..

Your thoughts on the matter are welcome. My thanks to anyone willing to sort this matter out...

Would there be any potential downside that I'm not seeing to simultaneously disputing this Chase account with the CRA's, rather than waiting to see what the CA comes up with?.

I know that credit repair is not an overnight fix, but time does matter to me right now as I have an important deal on the line. I'm afraid to do anything that might make this situation worse, but doing nothing right now may be the worst ting I can do...

If you dispute, do it on paper, not online...

I know mail is best. Is by telephone any better than online, though? I was thinking about calling it in, to get things going faster...
