Got a quick question: Why wont my vanilla Discover Card work? Hoping for any answer or 2. My 2nd question... I reviewed my credit report last year and there was a collection from a CA on there for $35 since the begining of the year. I have not received any letters of collection from the CA previously..

I sent them a 'Pay for Deletion Letter' but they responded with a letter stating "(CA) agrees to update the trade line to reflect that the account has been paid in full with a zero balance"..

My understanding of that is that they will only report to the CRA that I have paid the collection but that it will still show up on my credit report. Should I send them another letter stating again that I will pay in full only if they delete the entry from my CR or should I go ahead and request full validation of this alleged debt..

BTW this original debt is a missed co-pay dated from 2003, I tried contacting the original lab company and they have no record...

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I bump into an useful answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could give you help..

A paid collection doesn't look that good. if this is from 2003 then the SOL is expired and they can't collect. dispute 2010-2003= 7 years so this is coming off..

Frankly, this CA is idiotic considering there is no legal way to make you pay this or keep reporting this..

Dispute!..

Yup, I agree with everyone else. Try disputing it with the Cra's as Obsolete before doing anything else...

Why would you offer to pay if you dont even know you owe! Besides that it is obsolete..

Oh btw you owe me $500 for a lab copay too. PM me for the addy to send. Oh and don't dv me. I promise it's yours..

Thanks for your response. Isn't it true that this can still show up on my credit report on any application for more than $150,000 worth of credit as there is no time limit in that situation. I am planning on a new mortgage in about 6 months...

I do know I owe the debt. Around that time in 2003 I was dealing with the death of a parent and birth of a new child and somehow overlooked missing the co-pay for a stupid lab draw. I tried contacting LabCorp when I found out about the debt this year but they have no record of the debt to withdraw the collection. That was the reason for the pay for deletion ($35)..

Won't obsolute still show up on my CR for a mortgage application > $150k?.

My kids like to draw and color. Send me your addy and they will 'make' you the copay you requested. do you prefer a blue or green background?..

You know you owe the debt, but you dont know who owns it. Think about it, say the lab threw a copy of your bill in the trash along with hundreds of others and someone found them. They send notices to all those people and say you owe me XX. About 1/3 of those people will probably pay without thinking about it. Same thing goes with all debts, some are bought and sold daily, how do you know who you REALLY owe it to? Do you think if you pay the wrong CA they are gonna give you your money back? NO! That is the point of a DV partially to make sure you are paying (with Discover card) the correct person..

If an item is DELETED it will NOT show on a Full Factual report.

If an item FALLS OFF it WILL show on a Full Factual..

Two different credit reports doesn't pass the smell test for legal.

Nope. It's in the FCRA/FACTA. If you dispute it off it won't show on a full factual. I believe it is worded as "File" rather than "report"...

Bringing up stuff that is "GONE" doesn't pass the smell test.

Many have said they couldn't ever get an account back that was deleted by mistake (ME INCLUDED).

So how can they have this.

FULL FACTUAL.

That brings up.

"GONE".

Stuff..

The `full factual' is the exact reason you should dispute this as obsolete. If YOU dispute it, it's gone. If it `falls off' because of time, it remains on the full factual..

Granted almost nobody pulls FF's, some mortgage companies do, but still dispute it and nuke it for good...
