Question I have... Where can I get a prepaid visa/Discover Card? Many thanks for any comment. Second question.. I sent WC's repo letter to the CRA. TU deletes automatically for DH. Nothing yet for me..

Today, we get letters in the mail from Experian (I wrote to CSC since that is who we have to deal with) that say:.

The Fed Fair Credit Reporting Act states,"A consumer credit reporting company shall require as a condition of disclosure that the consumer furnish proper identification", therefore, if you write to us, we must require all of the following info in order to process your request: full name, including middle name and generation.. current mailing address, SSN (required to obtain your report) date of birth, and complete addresses for the past 2 years incl apt numbers and ZIP codes. In addition, enclose one copy of a gvmt issued ID card, such as a driver's licesnse, state or military id. AND one copy of a utility bill, bank or insurance statement, etc. Make sure that each copy is legible (enlarge if necessary) displays your name and current mailing address, and the date of issue. (Statement dates must be recent).

I'm sure this is what you guys are talking about when they are using stall tactics. I am SOOOO annoyed. I've been doing this disputing crap since 2005 and NEVER have had this happen..

I'm scanning the FCRA to see where it says that we are required to provide all of that info. Anyone know what section? I am half tempted to copy the letter that they sent me with our address on it and say, hey, this mail got to us, I am who I say I am as I am sure NO ONE else would want my credit report and score!.

HA. I am sending them a copy of their letter back to them telling them that I will NOT type out my full SSN and that their letter got to me, proving that the address is current. If my letter were to get lost/stolen, someone would have FULL access to anything they wanted. This is ridiculous. Seriously..

Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the answer to your question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I discover an anything. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could assist you..

I'll talk to her about it after the holidays. I know we talked about it before, but it was for my specific case she wanted to include Experian, which I was against at the time, because somehow or another federal judges always seem to exclude them. It was not for a class action case...

They have sent me the exact same letter to every dispute that I've filed. It's nothing more than a ridiculous stall tactic...

Yup.. same here till I got BBB involved. Didn't get one this last time, but I included my report number ssn # and Dob on the letter where I didn't before, just the report #...

I have always sent a copy of my DL and a utility bill. I think that they're really looking for the SS#..

Saves them time when they verify inaccurate trade lines!..

Guess I've had pretty good luck with Experian as far as deletion goes. Stall tatics on the other hand. I got three of them..

Two were the "we need your ssn number/etc" letter the 3rd one was the "We don't think the letter came from you".

Other than that they've deleted most of my stuff cept for a couple. One medical bill which I'm going to do from a different angle, and going to try one last time to get my state tax lien off. It's already off EQ & TU but EX is sticking like glue..

Ohh and here's their lovely response to the stall tactics when I complained to the BBB.

Notice how they completely gloss over their stall tactics?.

Sorry, just got to this thread..

I am NOT going to give them all of that info. For real. If they can't "verify" who I am with this crap...I'm in on the lawsuit if your lawyer's up to it..

I may mention it to my lawyer. I'm also going to file a complaint with the BBB..

I think this is absurd. I also think it's a complete stall tactic. I had more luck disputing online and getting things removed. This is just bogus...

This is the big three's holiday stall tactic. I had the same issue with EQ this month. I sent them a fax telling them to FOAD and complete my dispute. I informed them on the many other occasions they never needed such info and if they are going to report said info without verifying it then why in the hell would I do their work for them..

I opined them to look at my track record suing them and informed them they had already wasted 14 days and I was keeping track and looked forward to my results..

Last night I got my results back, 4 days early 4 baddies deleted...Poof!..

WOA! LinxI am jealous!!!.

I typed up my letter and I'm almost finished. I told them that if they couldn't figure out that I was the right person with the info that I provided, that I'd be filing complaints with the FTC, AG, and the BBB. I also told them that TU and EQ/CSC had already rec'd the exact same letter and deleted the acct. Mind you, TU did for Hubby, but not CSC yet. I may need to change that..

I also informed them that I am sending GMAC a letter asking them SPECIFICALLY when "they" advised EXP that the acct was IIB because if they just now did it, when the acct has been reporting since 2007...then they were going to be sued. But that if I found out that it was EXP that put the notation there without being told by GMAC, that EXP is in some hot water..

Thing is, the acct wasn't IIB as the acct was opened 5 months after DC. Exp keeps adding these notations to any and all accts on our credit reports. Even the ones AFTER the bk. most of them from the BK are gone...yet they report the BK date in 2006. How can an acct be IIB on 12/1/09 when the BK was dc in 2006?.

This is a really stupid newbie question: What info DO I need to give the CRA's in order to get hard copies of my reports? In the past, I always wrote them once or twice a year supplying all of the info requested in OP's letter in order to get my CR's just to see that all was as it should be. Of course, for all of those years my credit was perfect and I had no particular reason for concern. Now that my finances and credit are in ruins and I have found this site, I'm trying very hard to read and learn. How would they identify me without my full SS#?.

By the way, I have received the same letter as OP multiple times. Since that's apparently not playing fair, count me in on that class action!..

You can call the automated number listed on each Cra's website and they will send you a hard copy of your report..

There are ways of getting around getting more then one free report a year..

1. disputing accounts, usually when the verification process is done they'll send you a full copy of your report, with the changes/deletions etc..

2. If your unemployed, denied or looking they'll give you a free report,.

3 (most commonly used besides disputing accounts) is saying you were denied credit. They rarely ask for proof other than creditors name and date..

There are a couple more but these are the most common ones..

Last pm, I went so far as to try and dispute some low hanging stuff online (I know, I know) do you know that there were NO problems there(as far as asking for ID, lol) except for 2 that they said that they had previously verified and I need to contact the creditor..

NICE..

I printed ALL of that stuff up. It's BS. Plain and simple...

So....results of my disputes are in. lol.

Disputed Repo as NOT IIB and that it was a fraudulent acct (per whychat's letter) stated that OC hasn't responded to me..

Disputed SL's as not having 1 month terms..

Updated SL's but did not do anything about the one month terms. I think they just updated the balancehave to look..

OC for Repo came back and took the IIB note off and marked it as Paid, closed. $19xxx written off. hmmmmm Charge off as of 11/09, Sept 09, etc..

Interesting..

Dh's was deleted doing the same damn thing. Online dispute, too. WTH is up with that? Why won't they delete mine? IN fact, there's a notation on the next page that says: If acct was opened as a result of ID theft, the Credit grantor may not know how to contact you to discuss this matter. The credit grantor requests that you contact them directly..

Funnymy CERTIFIED letter told them that I had already done that and so did my online dispute. More proof that they do not listen....Better yet, how are they verifying mine or whatever and not with DH's when it's the same acct?..
