First question I got is What would be a good Discover Card for me? Looking forward for any comment. Another question... PenFED Rewards Platinum... |

Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the answer to that question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I find an anything. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could answer your Discover Card question..

I have two. One for a BT and one for an everyday card. It's probably my 3rd or 4th card, but I can still easily get $10-$15 back a statement..
It's 1.25% cashback, not 1.5%. Don't forget the 2% for groceries... |
I run all of my gas through the card, about $350/month between the wife and I. It isn't currently my daily user, however if Chase changes my rewards program (I haven't been hit yet), it will become my daily user..
ETA: Largest cash back was over $180 in one month...had our wedding reception and rings on the card that month.. This post has been edited by. Mpc578. : 06 August 2009 - 12:50 PM.. |

I don't guess I realized you could have 2 of the same type of accounts with them. Did you get them at different times? Online or call in? Are the limits the same?.
Might have to check into that myself since I have a 2.99% BT on my VISA and can't use it for rewards.. This post has been edited by. Jlp58. : 06 August 2009 - 01:36 PM.. |

I use my platinum rewards card heavily, as a "daily user".I spend an average of around 1,000 per month with it. I'm amazed at how fast the rewards add up. I also like the fact that you automatically get a statement credit every month...

When I was initially approved for the card, I used it for a BT. I realized I couldn't capitalize my rewards with the BT. I called a CSR, explained the situation, and they gave me a second card. They reallocated my available credit from one card and put it on a second. No hard pull..

I use it for EVERYTHING. I usually get about $20 to $30 credited each month (which is way better than the blue cash yearly I used to use)..
It's honestly the most favorite card I've ever had. Wish they would snazz up the design of the card itself is really my only complaint. ... |
I also use this as my main card, and all my gas purchases go on this. It's a great card and PenFed is a great CU! I average $15 - $30 a month due to recurring billing plus my gas purchases...
So it's ok, for the first month I receive the card, to actively use it daily?..
Shouldn't be a problem. My first statement was for north of $14k on a 20K CL...of course I paid in full, which I think eased any fears they might have.....

I agree 100%. It's truly a diamond in the rough. Just goes to show, looks aren't everything. LOL..
They denied me despite my spotless 5 year credit but now that I have Charles Schwab 2% cashback on everything, I'm going to use the Penfed card as a gas card only... if/when I get one..
Not that I have that specific card....
BUT THE GREAT PART IS THE CASH-BACK. Is paid monthly as a line item credit (so I have been told).. |
Yup! It's beautiful to pay before the statement cuts and comeback to see you actually have credit there waiting for you...
