My question is Were to get help when we are behind 3 Lending Tree mortgage payments? Hoping for any comment. Another question... About 3 or 4 weeks ago I had some woman claiming to be from cap1 calling me, saying she wanted to verify personal info. I told her I wasn't going to discuss any of my info over the phone because of identity theft and all that. I told her none of my info had changed and hung up on her.. |

I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the answer to your question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I discover an decent answer. You should email the people at Lending Tree as they probably can help you..

I think you might just be paranoid. My fiance let his Discover card go dormant for about 2 years (he had actually cut up the card). Around Christmas time, he called up Discover, asked for a CL increase and they rushed him a new card. The first thing he charged was a $300 Playstation2, and got two calls the next day from Discover card (they left messages on our machine). When he called them back, he found out the reason for the message were security measures. They wanted to make sure that he was the one who received the card, activated it, and made a purchase on it. Maybe Cap1 is trying to do the same thing for you? Don't know but I wouldn't jump the gun being miffed at them until you know their express purpose for calling...

Almost 3 years ago, I purchased a new 35mm camera on my Cap1 card... bought it from an internet camera store. I got a call from Cap1 asking if I had recently made a purchase from XYZ camera store. I assured them that I had and told them the amount. They were just making sure that I was the one making the purchase since it didn't fit my usual pattern..
I'm not sure why they would be asking for personal info, but it could be that something has triggered the questions. Maybe someone has applied for credit in your name, but with different address, etc.? I would agree with not giving personal info over the phone if they have called you, but I certainly would call them back and find out what's going on. It could be legit and if it isn't, they need to be alerted to that fact... |

Call CAPITAL ONE and ask if they "REALLY" CALLED....
If anybody gets a simular call...tell them to put it in WRITING and mail it to you.... DON'T give PERSONAL INFO when somebody calls you!!!. You can ask for a phone number and call from your CELL PHONE or a PAY PHONE..... |

I would call CapOne and see if it was really them. There have been several occasions where I got calls from CapOne security - they left a message for me to call an 800 number.
From my home phone,. And it was an automated system: stated the date and time of the purchase, and the name of the business, the amount, and said if I made that charge, press 1, if it was not me, press 2, or something like that... |
