My first question is Visa Discover Card U.S. District Court Settlement? Hoping for any answer. Another quick question... My FAVORITE store, who had CLI constantly for me, last one in November, went to gold card and 1000 limit - PIF each and every month. Went shopping there last night - card DECLINED! NO WAY POSSIBLE - so the helpful sales lady calls for me.. |

I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the answer. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I bump into an good answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could answer your Discover Card question..

No the store was great to me, even gave me my star rewards discount even though I wasnt using macys card - the CS girl couldnt believe it. STILL though, I wont be shopping there anymore..

All I can say is that these decisions are not made whithout reason. Something must have changed. Yes our standards changed but unless there is something on your CR that was a reason to flag your account for the CLD accounts are usually left alone. If you can tell when the last time was that we did a soft pull to get your credit info and compare it to this most recent one to see whats changed. Of course this will only work if you happen to have a copy of your credit report both then and now.. Not sure how many people would have that.
Its something thats bad enough that a supervisor agreed with the systems recomendation... just my .02.. |

You might be hard pressed to find a institution whos standards have NOT changed... Personally I have either gotten a APR increase or CLD from BOA, Discover, Captial One, Lowes, Macys, Best Buy, Chase... Im thinking there were others but cant think of em right now....

All I'm saying is that it is not always the customers fault. Many times the bank would blame it on the CR when there arent any changes...

I'm not harping here, but I actually had copies of my credit report from oct/08 and 4-5 copies during 2009..
My score improved almost 100 points, I dropped almost half my derogs and CLDed.. When I was CLDed, the only changes were improvements.. Maybe they've gotten more "excitable" about collections present or something along those lines,. But I KNOW my CR improved drastically and Macys still CLDed the acct.. Again, YMMV and I sincerely hope it does... |

Macy's gave me unrequested CLI. I just finished paying (with Discover card) off a major purchase acct from a 0% deal. Did you try calling in to see if you can get an increase based on usage history? The card is good for store discounts and coupons if you shop there..

I called a great deal and even EECBed the C-level people and got Exec Customer relations..
They couldnt even tell me why and to be clear, I am sincerely glad your experience was. Better than mine.. I apped for a Macys based on the good stories I'd read, but sadly. My experience was nothing like them... Truly YMMV. Btw, CONGRATZ! on the CLI!.. |

I've had the card for FOREVER (12 years or more?) so that was probably a factor...

Definitely a factor and I'm glad to hear you had a CL that allowed you to actually use the card.
Without blowing it's util out of the water by buying anything more than socks.. Thanks for the input tho. I'm still scratching my head over the way they handled my account,. But at least it's a moot point for me now... Good Luck LB!.. |

There are many threads about how Macy's has poor customer service.

There is no reason to support a store that treats customers are poorly as Macy's. Everything Macy's sells can be found at TJMAXX for less. Ralph Lauren polo's for example that are $70 at Macy's are sold at TJMAXX for $25. Even when Macy's has a sale down to $49, it is still cheaper to buy at TJMAXX... |

I'd keep the card open for age but put it in the SD. Then call for a recon or CLI in a few months. JMHO.. |

I was scared to ask for CLI for my Macy's Visa yesterday. First she told me I could get $2000 CLI. She put me on hold for a moment. She only could do $1000 CL. She asked me if I want to accept it. I told her to accept the offer and it is better than CLD..

Sonic you digress, we've all pretty much told you the same thing about your macy's store card experience, including Taylinth who apparently used to work in the credit department.. I'm verklempt. But not sure why you give me the spotlight as your macy's foil. This board is crawling with macy's love, you can't escape it! Like it or lump it. But to completely misrepresent my responses to your constant rehashings combined w/ your nose bleed attitude is the seriously funny part. OP sorry about the CLD! I don't necessarily drop an issuer based on one neg in a sea of positive experiences, especially a relatively solid issuer who may come together and restore+ but good luck going forward whatever you decide, that really bites!. She told me I didn't qualify $2000 CLI according to the computer. It is not the time. It is something to do with their credit score..

First she told me I was qualified for $2000 CLI and later changed to $1000 according to account review. By the way, the account has never been late and Paid in full. I never asked for CLI on that account since open back in 2006..
