Quick question: Virgin Pre-Paid Discover Card? Please help? Hoping for any response. Another quick question... DH and I need to increase his credit score by 70 points. I know we have done it before and we are ready to put work and effort into it. I wonder which strategies would be the best to accomplish this asap..

1. I want to pay off 3 collections (utilities from previous house 2 yrs. ago). I owe them and have money now to pay them. I could contact OC and attempt PFD or should I start with DV?.

2. Pay down credit cards even more. I am about 40% utilization, but every time I have made a substantial payment, the credit limit drops, so there is that risk. No late payments on any of my cards in the last year..

3. Contact any of the CA and try PFD?.

4. Add DH to my cards as auth. user to increase his lines of credit?.

5. Other?.

Thanks for any suggestions. I am a bit rusty with credit repair and have been reading through the stickies here. Just got our credit reports and found these utility collections even though I have never heard from any CA..

Jen.

I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the right answer. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I find an useful answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably can answer it..

The first things I would do is 1) add him as AU on your accounts, and 2) DV the collections...

In my case, we are trying to get a mortgage and some of those would need to either come off the report or be paid before closing. If I pay them though, I have heard that the entry refreshes so to speak and it lower score since it's a new entry. True?.

Call them up and request a Pay For Delete. get it faxed or emailed it in writing. boom... paid, deleted, end of story. correct me if i'm wrong but the only way that could reduce your score would be if it shortened credit history...
