Quick question: POLL: When was the last time someone approached you and asked if you take Discover Card? Thanks for any comment. Second question.. I have one CA left on my report and figured it would be the most difficult to deal with so I've left it for last. I need some help from all of you that have dealt with traffic tickets before. My apologies in advance 'cause this post is a novel!. |

I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the answer. I'll do some research and get back to you if I find an good answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably can answer it..

I can provide more information if needed. Just let me know if it would help...

I think what jtoast was implying was that they themselves were not familiar with traffic ticket collections, but wanted to bump the tread up for you so someone who is familiar can help...

Thank you beli. I understand what jtoast was saying. I was only using that post as a subtle way to keep this thread on the front page. Kinda like this one.....

What would you like to know about Traffic tickts? It is highly unusual for the State to use a CA, they just want you to pay the City or State... and it -Should- go up Slightly Forever, although I have seen some that remain untouched.....

I too thought it was sort of strange that the city wouldn't accept payment. You hear about all of the government budget problems so I thought sure they would accept $$..
I guess I'm just looking to tap into the collective wisdom of this forum for some advice. I've been really amazed that there are so many experts in so many different areas here... |

Well, since you're not getting anywhere, I'll tell you what I personally would do. That doesn't make this the right way to handle this. My advice is worth exactly what you paid for it..
Options:. 1) Call the local DA's office and see what the potential penalty is if you just ignore it. Also ask if they know who has the authority to recall the debt from the CA so you can pay the city directly. If they won't help you, try calling back later and trying to get a more helpful ADA.. 2) If this is a major city (sounds like it is) there is often a "Mayors action line" or something similar which could probably help you get the debt recalled in exchange for paying (with Discover card) it. The incentive being that in a budget crunch (and all cities are in a budget crunch right now) every little bit helps.. 3) Send the city checks for each citation and see if they cash them and mark the citations paid. This is probably what I would do if options 1 and 2 got me nowhere.. This post has been edited by. Jtoast. : 31 December 2009 - 10:03 AM.. |

Those sound like pretty good ideas jtoast. I never would have thought of that. That is precisely why I've presented my situation to CB!..

When you talk to them, make sure to mention that you previously tried to settle this during the last amnesty period but was told by the clerk you had no outstanding debts...
