First off, Is now a good time to buy or sell shares of Discover Card Incorporated (MA)? Looking forward for any answer or 2. My other question... I have 5 inquiries on Equifax. I know that PenFed pulls Equifax. 3 of the inquiries are AT&T, pulling my credit for new lines for the business in my name. Will they care about those since they aren't for loans, just for services? I don't want to open an account and apply if the liklihood I'll be offered the $10k Visa is slim.. |

Ye, although you might wanna make sure and wait for another person to confirm it as I am unsure of myself. Better yet, why don't you e-mail the Discover Card guys because they can answer you better...

The util IS down. I owe less than $500 on $15,000 of available credit. Amex has decided to report November's balance on January's update. I am trying to figure out if I can call them and force them to update my report so that it accurately reflects what I actually owe. My actual utilization is under 2%, despite what my credit report actually says...

When AMEX updates, see how your FICO looks..
683 ain't bad, but I've read here that Penfed likes them scores high!. Have you checked credit pulls?.. |

Take a look at these denials before you apply, then decide. These days, I would not bother with < 720 and wait until you reach 740+... |

I agree. Penfed is very selective. They prefer no negatives on report, little or no inquiries, and low utilization. They don't offer $10K Visas to new customers, you have to apply for it. Even two years ago when the banks were just tossing out approvals Penfed was still looking for 720+. With the current state of the economy I would say the 740 - 750+ is closer to what they target...

Hmm. maybe I just won't bother. Their minimum balance requirement was not really great relative to other accounts out there. Maybe I'll think about it more..
My report has no negatives, 5 year history, the only thing I'm waiting for is Amex to report this payoff. Equifax reports my score will jump to 760 when my utilization drops below 10% (using their little simulator thing).. This post has been edited by. Kb1gra. : 03 January 2010 - 03:47 PM.. |

I'm not aware that you can dispute a balance...what happens if I do that?..
|
|
This does work, but you also run the risk of the account getting deleted...

Penfed is like a hat trick....
First, the computer has to like you.. Second, the UW looking over the computer's decision also has to like you.. I know of two people, make that three, that have over 800 credit score that have been denied or got less that what they had requested... |
|
The computer liked me when it gave me the preapprovals page..
Then Discover credit card app said approved under status on the "recent apps page". Now it says "trasferred".. I guess I'm waiting for the UW now, eh?. (if they think I'm going to jump through hoops and supply docs off a preapproved screen offer, they're delusional.).. |
|
Transferred= Account info transferred to whoever is printing the card.
... |
|
Transferred = human UW already looked at it..
However, Penfed has done snatchbacks... tread lightly.. This post has been edited by. Johnnyt6. : 03 January 2010 - 07:19 PM.. |
