Yes sir! although you might wanna make sure and wait for another person here to confirm this as I am on the fence. Better yet, why don't you e-mail the Discover Card guys because they can answer your Discover Card question better...

I found one a few towns away from me. Would you try sending a dispute in to the ADA first? It seems as if asset is trying to commit business suicide by coming after me again. Their attorney signed off on the settlement. I received the hard copy of my CR from EX today and the "collection as on sept 2009" is on there...

Asshat is bad enough, I would not give them any further chances, go right to your newfound atty..
And get rid of that direct deposit for the time being... |
|
So they are reporting the collection as 'unpaid' and also reporting as past due..
Seems like;. 1) Their intention is to push you again to squeeze more money out of you and to give it up if you put on a good fight. Or,. 2) Theres a stupid miscommunication between them which could cost them.. Either way, as mentioned, this should be easy and also that you should not give them a heads up. You should sue them right away... |

Betcha they try and collect the "unsettled" part of the balance if you reached a settlement with them. See it happen all the time, esp if you atty you hired to do that in 07 didnt put a "may not sell the rest of the balance" clause in there..
Get yourself an atty and let them handle it, sue for violations...you'll win. I hate AA, I had to get the BBB FTC and AG involved, also filed a lengthy case with the ACA against them..... |

Merry Christmas everyone!.
They are reporting it as "paid, closed." Then on bottom of the TL they report "collection as of sept 2009". I'm going to call the atty next week.. I was thinking the same thing..that they are trying to go after the "unsettled" amount. The atty I used back then was a friend who I reached out to in an emergency situation. This type of work was not his norm scope of practice, so that clause was not there. Yes this happened before I discovered this forum so I didnt know any better myself.. The attorney is the next step..hopefully on contigency...and I will keep everyone posted through this thread. Please keep the advice coming..I'm making notes. Thank you all... |

Report them to the Michigan Attorney General, if you are looking for a quick solution to this. michigan.gov/ag..
|
|
Thanks for the link..it's great that you can file a complaint online. I'm goint to talk to the atty first and no matter what, goint to file the complaint. In NY if the ag gets alot of complaints against a company they will go after them. Maybe MI ag does that as well...

Mike Cox, the MI AG, has had Asshat in his crosshairs for some time now...

Wow, dunno how I missed these facts but I definitely needed them! Thanks so much! Gonna send them a letter next week!..

|
That's great to hear...always good to supply the hunter with extra ammo..

Just wanted to update those following the thread..
I did call the attorney and we had a great chat over the phone. He said just what everyone here said "they cant do that". He told me what I needed to do (which I have now done) and believes it will get removedI'll post again when something happens and with more details... |
