There is A relationship between being irresponsible and having bad credit and being irresponsible behind the wheel/committing insurance fraud to get even more money after opening up credit accounts without the intention to pay them back....

And I see in you some one who favors creditors and insurers:.

Either that or you are a very missinformed consumer...

My credit report's clean. I fixed errors in them..

I believe in caveat emptor..

I always understand and read contracts before signing them..

I comparison shop to research the best prices and/or terms..

Does that place me above or below the average of misinformed consumers?.

I might "seem" to favor creditors/insurers due to the fact that I try to balance their side with the consumer's. Not only is it fair to see both sides, it can prove advantageous in some situations when dealing with seemingly impossible or unfair situations..

I don't work for their industries. You may not believe that, that's O.K. by me. I always try to see all sides of a situation..

When people lie, cheat and steal, etc. I tend to come down hard on that..

I believe in morality, hard work and the American dream..

By the way, hi everyone!!!.

I've lurked here for a looong time. Now I roar ;-) Or, whimper, when I'm proven wrong...

So far, I have not seen anything "troll-like" from illum... just because people have differing opinions does not make them a troll.

A troll does this.

So you agree to waive your right to go to court in favor of a lender-sponsored arbitration forum?.

I'm curious, what field are you in? I am in insurance, myself. We have many here who work in the credit industry - we don't call them trolls, but then they don't pass judgment on the folks here who are trying to clean up their reports. They usually post something to try to help those in trouble, or they just don't say anything about those threads. You will have folks up in arms here if you go around trying to "clean other people's houses.".

There are all different points of view here. You seem to have jumped right into threads where you can pass on your judgmental point of view. Why is that?.

I'm also curious why you are posting from an ISP in Canada. Are you an American living in Canada, or a Canadian who is interested in the US credit system?..

Not exactly.....

I paid every penny of charges and accrued interest..

I did NOT pay exhorbitant and possibly illegal fees added on later..

CRA's reason for being? Not..

Their reason for being is PROFIT MAXIMIZATION..

By keeping us in a low score situation, we pay higher interest rates, higher fees, higher premiums..

If FICO were really a true representation of our risk, the following things would be true:.

-We would get points for paying debt, even if OLD. (Not a lower score for paying old debt.).

-We would not be penalized for NOT owing money!.

-We would NOT be penalized for paying cash, not using credit cards..

-We would NOT be penalized for actually USING credit cards either!.

Etc, etc.....

FICO has taken the actions most of us are likely to engage in, and used it to lower our scores!.

You have to be kidding. The concept is ludicrous at best, and likely discriminatory. This idea assumes that *everyone* with low FICO scores is.

Irresponsible or possibly criminal..

Using claims and accident history as a basis for premiums is justifiable..

Using credit ratings is profiteering..

Also it's not like the rules were written in the best interests of consumers. I would bet they were well perused by a big lobby of bankers etc. Polico's write policy to meets the needs of the lobby in DC not the folks at large...

The CRA's are the folks who flawed the system not us. The CA's beat the crap out of people all day lie cheat and steal. But thats OK because we are the bad guys and gals. Just crap on us the reason 99% are here is due to situations WE COULD NOT CONTROL. I have not read one thread about how to FRAUD a bank or ID switching. Just folks advising other of their rights.

I did not plan on losing my job and my savings when some pinheads decided to park a couple of jets in the WTC..

And I would bet over the years I probably paid more in interest in 20 years of good credit. than I may not pay now. Also the banks get tax write off so it's not so bad and they get to crank up prime + whatever and blame us as the reason. And in the end it the low credit folks that pay all the high rates NOT folks with good credit. So you should be thanking us as we keep YOUR rates down.

Also if the systen is so flawless, how come banks that have written of my debts still send CC apps to meI bet each mailing cost $2 or so and I get around 3 a week ..

I think the only fraud around here is folks like you "trying to help".

Try not to walk on the water when I am fishing heh.

Illum....

The problem with you is your assumptions. And EVERYONE knows what happens when you assume....

I have a perfect driving record. I am very 'old lady' -like behind the wheel. I don't like the inconvenience of being w/o my vehicle for repair. It takes 2 years t settle a PI lawsuit so it is not fast money..

Next, *I* am not irresponsible. I have had the great misfortune to being married to men who are. I paid the price for their irresponsibility. *I* paid their bills! I had good credit when I filed for a divorce in 1991. Two years later, with the custody battle in full swing, I was left with no other option than BK7. For this, I get credit "prison" for 10 years.

In 1998, years of what seemed to be a good marriage came to a screeching halt. This hubby "cracked" and succumbed to addictions. If that were not bad enough, I was then laid off mid-November that year. NOONE hires a professional during the holidays. I had been a contract programmer so their was no severance or unemployment compensation. I filed BK13 to save my house..

Currently, I have 2 BKs on my bureau. One will fall off 8/03. The other 1/05. There is one paid coll from 1997. There are 8 good tradelines. I have this because I found this site.

I am a single mom of 5 children. The kids father's are deadbeats. I am self-supporting and not on welfare. I make $65K+ per year..

So, illum, you can take a quick trip to hades for all your judgmentalism is worth..

As a veteran, I fought for your right to express your opinion. However, I will share that your opinion is as desired here as a Christian's is on a Jewish board. This board is here for us. We have had enough accusations in our lives without you joining in..

My question would be: Why do you even post or "lurk" here. What does it gain you? Does it fill your ego with a perverse sense of superiority?..

I would like to just add one more thing....

If consumers are irresponsible and should be judged by their actions, why shouldn't the credit card companies be judged by their irresponsible actions as well? They pull our credit without our knowledge or consent, they send us pre-qualified offers in the mail that we do not want nor request (many with offers of low start rates that spike up), and they will gladly extend almost anyone with a half decent score FAR MORE credit than they could ever possibly afford to pay back! They are the ultimate hypocrites. On the one hand they expect consumers to be responsible and careful with their credit, yet, on the other, they believe it is their God given right to extend credit and credit offers with reckless abandon..

What do they expect? And, what gives them the right to do this? Many people have the same sort of problems with credit as they do with gambling, alcohol, and nicotine. These industries are regulated to act responsibly, why isn't the credit card industry?..
