First off, I just recieved an offer for Platinum Discover Card? Looking forward for any answer. Another quick question... I found an old collection on one of my credit bureaus for a utility bill for a rental place I owned in 2007..

I sent a PFD, (skipping validation as I figured it would be worth paying (with Discover card) for it to go away). They refused.

And responded that would sending a letter with an itemized statement form their client which will serve to validate the debt..

The statement may tell me if I actually owe the debt, I had tenants and the property was sold that year. Although I ignored the validate.

First, any advice on how to proceed would be appreciated..

Thanks,..

Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I find an answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could give you help..

Is there a special SOL for utilities. I've searched quite a bit and what I can find for Oregon, is 6 years across the board..

I finally found this in reference to cell phone bills and "wire communications:".

US Code Title 47.

But still have found nothing special about other utilities such as electric bills. Any other thoughts? I just want to verify what.

Lynn37 in suggesting..

Thanks...

Anybody know the SOL for utilities in NY. I don't owe any money, but they can still report for the 7 years right?..

I'd like to know this too... I have a collection for a utility bill that's just under two years old. I'm in FL now and the bill is from NY...

I don't see why they would make federal law the change an SOL for any kind of debt..

From the first post it seems like they didn't read his letter and reacted like it was a DV?..

I just learned something new today.. I have a sprint collection on my credit report and I know for sure that it is more than 2 years old but when I checked my report last week it said that it was placed in collection 6/2009 and updated 11/2009. How should I still try to use the SOL?..

I have always disputed cell phones using UCC code and never had any problems getting them to go away..

Like I told someone else, UCC is something you need to have in a file just like you do the FCRA and FDCPA. Know it...love it.....
