First question I got is I am behind in my Lending Tree mortgage does this affect my credit rating? Hoping for any comment. Another question on my mind: I have a cingular charge off and I was curious if I go ahead and pay it would that increase my score at all? I have heard that a charge off and a paid charge off makes no difference to your credit score, is that true? The charge off is from 2001...

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I bump into an useful answer. You should email the people at Lending Tree as they probably can help you..

Unless they put in writing they will delete if paid in full or you are getting sued by them, paying it will do absolutely nothing for your credit score or help your credit out..

It will show as a paid chargeoff or collection, not good at all..

Keep your money in your pocket and jam them up on either FCRA or FDCPA violations..

Have them pay you is my motto..

No, it will not help your score. It'll just help *you* that you no longer owe that money. In order to help your score, you can try negotiating with the creditor saying you'll pay as long as they delete. Charge-offs are never good.. paid or unpaid...

The violations can easily happen when you become creative..

It's not too hard if you do things right!.

You will get what you want then..

I have found that both eq and ex have been including balances of unpaid chargeoffs when they calculate my credit usage and balances. So even though the cards are charged off, they are affecting my ratios. That's why I'm paying mine. However, I don't anticipate any added benefits to my self esteem. According to the fico simulators paying the balances will only give me 5-7 points..

To get violations you have to request validation and watch for them to start violating the law...

I received a letter from a CA on my account awhile back, but have heard nothing else and it is not showing on my CR. The cingular account shows as a charge off and the CRA is still showing it as a past due balance. Should I dig around to see if I can find the CA name and write them or should I send validation letter to Cingular?.

Also, My DH has a charged off cingular account that we received notice on from a different CA (not being reported to CRA). I sent them a validation letter (due to extreme charges that were added on to his balance) and it is past the 30 day mark, with no response...what should be my next step? Validation letter #2?..
