Got a question, hope someone can answer... How do I activate my Discover Card gift card? Thanks in advance for any answer or 2. Another quick question... Hey there,.

Looking to pick up a new computer and switch (for pleasure use at home) to a MAC Book Pro. I was thinking of doing an app for their card (as I did one about 1.5 years ago; denied) and thought it was.

Juniper.

That handled their accounts? I have now went online to see who they pull, and it shows.

Barclay.

? Did they recently switch or is it handled by a new company for all accounts now...did I miss something?.

Please let me know who I should look for in the CP's so I know if it's worth a pull on that report...otherwise, if someone has recently applied...please let me know their outcome as well.

***Is the MacBook Pro 15" really worth the $2000.00 (after ONE on ONE and warranty and iWork09). My GF has the 13" and I love it, but would like a bigger screen...anyone here use MAC?..

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to that question. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I discover an good answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could assist you..

No no, I applied for a virgin america card, but when I called the credit analysts at Barclays, they asked up front if it was for the apple card (it wasn't)..

I've since asked a friend who bought a macbook pro and applied for the card to pay for it, it's backed by barclays...

....And when applying for the card from apple.com - is it still a TU pull?..

Sleepless....

...Two other questions:.

...How do you find the system specifications for the MacBook...on my GF's - she has the 13" and I was wondering if she got the 2GB or 4GB one they have...is there a way to find this in.

Settings.

Or something...I can't find it for the life of me. Each time I google it, I get werid answers not pertaining to what I am trying to find at all..

...At the Apple Store there is a small icon on the MacBook Pro's on the upper right that looks like a TV and you can adjust the screen resolution...I figured out how to adjust the resolution through settings, but not to get that easy to use icon up there...do you know?.

Thanks..

Not sure about the card though...I used a different form of payment when I got mine..

But I do have a Juniper card and the pull was TU (less than a year ago)..

Fantastic...that's the one I am looking at getting. Love the new titanium one shell design...the screen is amazing!.

Let me know if you know how to get the screen resolution icon in the upper right by "wireless" and "battery life" icons..

Found the "apple-about this mac" THANK YOU!.

So is there a Barclay site? Is there a better Barclay card than another, LOL?..

Yep...very intuitive. I *love* my MAC..

As soon as I learned the "apple" icon was a "command" it was easy..

Click the Apple icon in the upper left hand corner then click About This Mac.

Basically tells you everything about the hardware and should give you all of the info you need..

If it doesn't let me know!..

As a TU puller...(as it sits now, highest FICO) which would be better to apply for:.

Barclay.

Or.

Hooters.

Better CL and/or overall card. Looking to purchase the MacBook Pro..

FICO 686TU..

You might want to look at macmall.com. They have their own financing or you can use BillMeLater, and their prices are lower than the apple store..

All the limits I have heard of on the Apple card have been LOW..

Some barclays cards often have low limits, such as itunes. barclays is also good for recon if initially denied. Many here have limits with it well over 30,000. not sure how that is low..

Merrick bank is as subprime as they come..

Wasn't the barclays limit reported above >3 times merrick?.

They pulled TU yesterday. Application via apple.com, as always Barclay is unable to make instant decision (no inq., FICO 750+, clean report). CSR had no idea what I was talking about and was absolutely positive that Barclay does not service apple card. I'll get this card, no doubt, but I doubt I am even going to activate it. I sent email to apple, describing why they lost sale today..

I have no experience with Merrick, but Barclay is as subprime as they come...

If I were you, I would apply for the Best Buy store card. They sell most of the Apple products and tend to have better CLs (and CLIs) and have better 0% offers. For example, right now they have 0% for 18 months on purchases of $499 and up compared to 12 months with the Apple card...

I use a mac at work. Beautiful system. 30" Cinema Display..

At home I use PCs. I have a Vaio laptop..

Truth be told, it's never crashed nor have I had a virus..

The hardest thing about going back and forth is the fact that the acceleration of the mouse is just different..

I thought using a mac at work would make me want one at home..

They are nice. But to me, a mac is a luxury item. As a computer, it is not worth the 200% markup over a PC. The hardware is the same commodity stuff made in the same chinese factories. As a computer, there is no way to justify the extra price. As a luxury, status item, sure, if that's your priority, then go for it.

I certainly indulge in my fair share of luxury items. But for me, even using a mac at work, even being a software engineer, I decline to indulge in unneeded luxury on a notebook and instead indulge in unneeded luxury in my car, and my vacations, etc..

So what I'm saying is... if you think you're buying 2x the computer, it's my well-informed professional opinion that that is not the case. But if you know what you're buying and can afford it, then yes, go for it. It's certainly a nice product..

Last night called Apple, configured an IMAC for a little over $2100, they then transfer me over to finance for the Barclay Financing Visa app. After being on hold for a while, the csr came back with an approval; $2400. Pulled Trans Union, not bad for having 7 paid CO's from 2006 & 2007 on my TU. Also have 8 open Discover credit card w/ no lates. 6 of them are less than 1 year old. UTIL 14%..

Well I don't think it is worth $2000, but if that's what you like then go for it. You can pretty much match the same hardware components at half the price on other laptops. It's like you're paying (with Discover card) $1000 more for the operating system and the name...

I applied for the itunes card last year to purchase a new computer. I was approved for $750. Hardly enough to purchase a new Mac. Last month I applied for and was approved for the Amazon.com store card by GE Money and was approved for $1,800 and instead of the 90days same as cash that Juniper offered I instead received 24 months no interest financing. I LOVE my new iMac! I'm going to cancel my itunes card at the two year mark. I just received my first itunes gift card in the mail..

'.

Are you kidding? The Apple warranty applies to your Mac regardless of where you purchase it. You can purchase the three year extended warranty any time during the first year as well...

When I purchased a vehicle last month (November), the dealership pulled my TU report & it showed 677. My FAKO scores or below in my signature..

Here are my other CC's with no lates.

Opened 9/08 Chase $3,500.

Opened 10/08 Capital One $1,000.

Opened 12/08 Fifth Third Secured MC $1,300.

Opened 1/09 Macy€™s $300.

Opened 1/09 US Bank Secured Visa $5,000.

Opened 1/09 Wells Fargo Secured Visa $500.

Re-opened 2/09 AMEX Optima/Oasis $1,900.

Opened 7/09 Sams Club/GEMB $800.

& now.

12/09 Barclay Visa $2,400.

I read in other threads that Barclay likes a good track record of rebuilding. That's why I took a chance with them & their recon approval success rate can't be beat (if needed).
