Quick question: Hi I just got a vanilla Discover Card and can't use online? Thanks for any response. Another question I got... I have a Discover card that I opened in 2002 that I never use anymore because I use a rewards Discover card that I opened in 2006. The 2002 card is my oldest credit card. I'm thinking about cancelling the account since I haven't used the card in 2 years and I don't want to risk someone stealing my account or me losing the card. However, from my reading it looks like it's a bad idea to close my oldest Discover card since it will look like I've only had credit since 2006. |

Good question... I dunno what is the answer to your question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I find an good answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably can help you..

Don't close it. You don't want to lose 4 years..
Do use it ASAP, assuming it's still active... |

It won't do that. Even closed, accounts remain on your report for seven years..
It might do other bad things. I would not close it... two cards is seems like a minimum. You never know when a bank is going to flip out and close your account in good standing that had current use. (Waves to Chase). See if the account is open, and if so, buy gas or something... |

Positive accounts remain for 10 years, negative accounts remain for 7. guaranteed fact..

If there is not an annual fee...keep it.
There are enough accounts being. CLOSED. By the banks as it is. ...along with. CLD. And. APR JACKAGE. This post has been edited by. GEORGE. : 31 December 2009 - 07:56 AM.. |
