First question I got is Hello, I am looking for a Discover Card to apply for (credit card).? Hoping for any comment. Another question I got... OK, so I filed a complaint with the BBB about one of the CA's on my report. They're committing a number of FDCPA, as well as FCRA, violations. Well I get a response back from the BBB this morning that has left me a bit perplexed:.

We have received your complaint regarding services with the debt collection company. Debt collection companies are governed by federal and state laws that prohibit them from disclosing information on consumers to third parties, such as the Better Business Bureau..

To process your complaint, we need your authorization. Please complete the following form and return to the Better Business Bureau..

I, __________________________ (print name), hereby authorize the Better Business Bureau to receive information regarding my complaint. This authorization releases the debt collection company and the Better Business Bureau from any liability pursuant to federal and state law, as related to the disclosure of any information and/or communications to the Better Business Bureau..

Looks pretty straightforward, right? My problem right now is what to say and what not to say. Do I fill this out and send it back without listing any violations or send it back with a note pointing out just what it is they're doing that is in violation?.

At first, this form made me wonder if the BBB would be pulling my report. Has anyone else ever been sent a form like this?..

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the right answer. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I bump into an good answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably know..

That's what I was actually thinking as well. I've never gotten that kind of response from BBB tho when I've filed my complaints..

Oh I have no doubt the BBB is doing it to legally protect themselves. That I can understand and it makes sense. It just seemed a little strange to me. I've done BBB complaints before in the past but I've never seen a form like this..

I filed a complaint with my state's AG on Monday...

Let me guess...it's midland, right?.

It's a way for the CA to pretend that they care about following the law.....

+1 for Midland.

I got that exact response from the San Diego BBB. None of the other BBB's asked for that...
