My 1st question is: Has anyone won the Discover Card priceless instant win game? Thanks for any response. Second question of mine... Ok, I've been battling AFNI for months now. One account is simply ridiculous because I am still in good standing with AT&T yet somehow AFNI wound up with my account info when I fell behind on bills a few years back. I'll eventually win that one..

The other one, however...Well, I've tried nearly everything short of calling them over this XXX.XX, 5 year old pain-in-the-ass Alltel account. My last dispute was based on dates that were reported so pitifully wrong that I just couldn't resist ripping off a nice, long dispute to EQ. Today this shows up....

Refinanced or renewed??? And the dates...once again, soooooo wrong! The big difference is they're not posting an amount any longer. I'm actually sitting here stumped. AFNI is the last hurdle I have before I have clean reports..

Any ideas or suggestions?..

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I find an anything. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could assist you..

Immediately send them a DV letter, and request ALL paperwork relating to this collection. Afni seems to love to "re-verify" and re-report as soon as you dispute with the CRA's. In all probability, they will have absolutely nothing relating to this file..

I used a DV, BBB and ACA complaints and got rid of them fairly quickly (15 days). They will most likely attempt to supply an "invoice" that is created in a few minutes on MS Word, and have nothing else...

The "Refinanced or Renewed" line has actually HELPED my FICO score! Got an alert today of an account change and score increase. 12 points higher! The old listing said "At least 120 days or more than four payments past due". Now that's gone, so that would explain the increase....

It would be better if it were totally gone, but something's better than nothing!..

I plan on it, even though I've sent them DVs in the past and have received nothing. I'm just gonna bombard them this time with the things you suggested...

They also love to attempt to collect time-barred debts, which yours may or may not be (check your SOL)..

In my case, they actually supplied me with the ammunition that I needed by claiming that the referenced account was closed in 06/2004, yet they didn't attempt to collect until 07/2009. I simply asked through my BBB complaint why the OC would hold a bad debt for five years before selling to a JDB. I then asked if they had an actual invoice from the OC, and not a MS Word generated invoice that they supplied as "verification". They of course had nothing..

In your case they probably have nothing as well.....Hammer away at them, they'll soon realize that you're more trouble than they want to deal with and they'll leave you alone to harass someone that has yet to discover their actual rights!..

Does anyone have a sample letter they've used to complain to the BBB against AFNI? I wanna argue the point they are reporting as an installment loan (1) payment, when in fact it is a collection... thanks...

What are the right dates they should be reporting? Do you have proof of those dates you can send them?..

No. But if you look at the dates in the picture, you can see the kind of stuff they've been doing and it's never the same way twice..

Look at Date Opened and Date Of Last Activity. The burden of proof is in their hands and they're giving me plenty of ammunition to use against them...
