My question is Go Daddy .com wont accept my prepaid Discover Card? Thanks for any comment. Another question on my mind: Without asking me, DH decided to try to open a new cell account. Of course I would have told him no; I just don't like contract cell phones. We've been using prepaids so we don't get into any trouble, blah blah blah.. |

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I discover an anything. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could give you an answer..

I know sprint and t-mobile have these "flex pay" or "spending limit" accounts, where they allow you to get service and put a limit on your account, i.e. you can't go over $150 balance....then you have to pay a month in advance (just like all cell services) and at no time can your account balance (monthly fee's + overages + downloads, etc) be more than the account "limit" or they will suspend service...also there usually is almost no "grace" period, you pay when due or get cut off..

I've been with Sprint for 6 years and I remember being shocked at being able to get a phone with them without a deposit. Back then, my credit was BEYOND awful. I still have a "spending limit" on my account but I've been wondering if I can get that upped since I've improved my credit scores over 200 points (thanks to boards like these) in the last 2 years...

My friend worked for sprint and they get a lot of illegals ordering cell phones there lol. they use false social securities for them so i'm not surprised anybody could get approved there...

T-Mobile and Sprint are the easiest carriers to get, in my experience..
AT&T is the second-hardest, and Verizon is THE hardest.. AT&T's deposits range from $0-$750 ($0 for good credit, $125 for good credit but new/not enough credit, $300 for sort-of-bad credit, $500 for no credit, $750 for terrible TERRIBLE credit) ... this I can tell you for sure... |
|
I would def NOT say that Verizon is the hardest, my ex got a line last jan with credit beyond horrible, like low 500 fico horrible with tons of unpaid c/os...no deposit.
I do know sprint is pretty lenient. And I used to work at t-mobile, we had those smart access lines that ok credit could get approved for $75 deposit $150 spending limit...but the highest deposit was $500 per line.... I had at&t for 8 years, got approved 2 mos after my 18th b-day fico was over 700 got approved for 10 lines no deposit...but that was in like 2001 lol.. |
|
I was saying for in my area. I think it varies by area. I've seen people with FICOs ~730 with no baddies and good history have $125 and $400 deposits on Verizon but no deposits on any other carrier. I've also seen people with FICOs in the 500s have no deposit on VZW and AT&T, so.....

Huh!.
Interesting!. The plan he signed up for was the $50 unlimited messaging/internet/mobile to mobile with 450 anytime minutes. I took this to mean that it was mobile to mobile with Sprint only, but he verified with them upon activation that it was any provider. Sounds too good to be true, but maybe companies are changing the way they do things to make a contract more attractive.. Meanwhile I get to be jealous because I have to pay for internet on my phone.. Dude even gets t.v. shows, it's so ridiculous.. I'm still not happy because he'll be spending about $20 more than he was, but I guess he's getting a pretty good deal with what it comes with. I'll just have to make sure he actually uses it for it to be worth it... |
|
$50, eh?.
The plan you describe is $69.99 before taxes...I was on it until I switched to Verizon.... You might want to verify this on his Sprint.com online account... Sometimes (a lot of the time, actually...), the Sprint reps lie to make sales or they don't really know about what they're saying.... This post has been edited by. Im pretty sure that one of those new plans at T-MOBILE now has NO credit check service.... (even more or even more plus).
This is easily verifable at sprint.com:. $49.99 = 450 anytime minutes & unlimited mobile-to-mobile f/k/a sprint to sprint, unlimited n&w, unlimited text, pics, video messages. $69.99 = 450 anytime minutes & unlimited mobile-to-mobile (any mobile, anytime), unlimited n&w, unlimited text, pics, video messages.. |

...and some here keep on saying you won't get a phone with-out allowing them to pull a.
HARD INQUIRY. But people with not so great to rotten credit get no deposit.... WHAT IS THE. NEED. FOR THE HARD???.. |

Hmmm...I tried to get a phone with ATT about 6 years ago...they required a deposit of $500...because I had no credit. Was 18....
Got a phone with my mom shortly after on a 1 year contract...then I got a phone with them on my own in Feb. 2006, $0 deposit.... Got the first iPhone in Oct. 2007, 2 yr contract, $0 deposit. And now have the newest Iphone Oct. 2009, 2 yr contract, $0 deposit...I'm only 23...everyone I know gets bodied by ATT...I'm positive I could get with Verizon if I wanted to.... Sprint DOES let anyone get phones...even my father who has THE worst credit ever...that's a long story short...I wouldn't be surprised if his credit is near bottom range (300-400 scores)...he is a sorry excuse..... |

Just got my spending limit removed. Not really sure why, but they informed me that it was lifted. Not sure what I will be using this spending limit for. The bill isn't that much...

Somebody kept on spouting that you could call some foreign country that might cost more than $1 per minute.
Or. Call the USA from some foreign country. I never been to any foreign country...and I know nobody in one. Or. You could accept a bunch of. COLLECT PHONE CALLS FROM JAPAN. Can you even accept. COLLECT CALLS. On a cell phone.. |
|
In fact calling rates to/from foreign countries are falling so rapidly that they are cheaper than your typical domestic long distance calls. At least to countries that have high volume. But, service providers still charge $1+ for direct dialed calls...
