I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I discover an good answer. You should email the people at Lending Tree as they probably know..

And this was just emailed - guestimate of the formula, but prepared to mail if it bounces back to me: (Made sure Ms. Hornes name was bolded and underlined in each and every instance!).

December 23, 2002.

Mr. David R. Wolff.

Vice President, Consumer Relations.

TransUnion LLC.

555 W. Adams St..

Chicago, IL 60661-3614.

Dear Mr. Wolff:.

I, just today, had a horrendous experience with TransUnion in Chester, Pennsylvania, and felt compelled to write. I will give you a short background..

On November 20, 2002, the TU office received a dispute from me, verified by a Certified Mail return receipt. I contacted these offices to ask for an update, only to find out, they had never started my dispute. I spoke to a CSR on December 20th, in Fullerton, CA, and was asked to fax copies. Today, I tried to contact this CSR for an update. After speaking with three different CSR’s (two disconnected my call), I was transferred to Charlotte Hornes. She was identified as a supervisor..

Ms. Hornes proceeded to tell me that Certified Mail cannot be sent to a post office box, she knew this because “she used to work for the post office”, and therefore, I must not have sent them a dispute letter. I knew this couldn’t be true, from past experience, as well as the fact they verified I had a dispute pending from December 10, 2002, which was also sent certified mail. I tried to correct her (thinking she was confused with services such as Federal Express- which can’t deliver to P. O. Boxes).

After she refused to discuss the issue further, I hung up and called the local post office that services Trans Union. They were very well aware of Transunion, and explained to me that they did indeed received certified mail for them at the post office box, but because of the sheer volume, they bundle those up and have a carrier deliver them to the offices as a matter of convenience..

Mr. Wolff, Transunion is entrusted with reporting my credit activities to lenders an such on a day to day basis. I, as a consumer, rely on information that you provide for everything from basic credit needs, to purchasing a home. How can anyone trust your information is correct when your Customer Service Representatives do not even have knowledge of basic mailing procedures that consumers use to communicate with TU? Why should I take such abuse? Why would one of the CSR’s I talked to tell me, “well I am sure that somebody is doing something about it, since you faxed copies”, when she basically has no idea? Is TransUnion teaching their CSR’s stall tactics when found in violation of FCRA?.

I just spoke again with TransUnion. I was trying to reach the CSR that I had previously spoken to about this problem, and whom I was trying to reach when I got passed to Ms Hornes. She was on the phone, but ANOTHER CSR told me she had received my fax from last Friday, the 20th, and had 5 business days to respond..

Again, this is wrong information. Transunion did not start their investigation on th 20th, they did not notify the furnishers I disputed the information within 5 business days of the 20th, and day 30 is up. Transunion only has one choice, and they know it!.

Your attention to this matter is appreciated..

Best Regards,.

Jlynn..

I edited it off anywayhad all my info on it oops! Probably is overkill, I'm just impatient and this CSR was out of the loop today with the other stuff. Five business days is like 1 1/2 weeks with Christmas!.

I was just so angry with them today...

Idiots! here's another reason why you should send it certified mail.....

I sent a copy yesterday of the CRRR. I just got a call "they can't read the date". I'm fuming, but I make another copy as dark as possible, and send it on. Here's the real joy though. I also sent a copy from the USPS web site confirmation page for the Certified number..

Told her if she had any doubt now, compare the pre-printed number on the card. Also told her I was tired of the games, time was up, and they were "operating under multiple FCRA violations" at this point..

Think I'll go nash my teeth together some more...

Guess what a TU rep told me today. She said if there is a holiday in the 30 day period, like Xmas, since they are closed the 24th and 25th, they can add 2 more days to the 30 days. LOL.

I told her to run that by me again. Which she did. Exactly the same way. She also told me they have 3 - 5 days to start the investigation and the 30 days doesn't start until the day they start the investigation..

I asked to speak with a super. She got on the phone and I explained the absolutely stupid answers her rep was giving me. I told her I know the law inside and out, and since you received my dispute on Nov 27, not the 29th as TU claims, and I have a signed certified mail receipt to prove it, I expect my investigation to be complete and the item deleted on Friday, not 2 days later due to the holiday..

Idiots...

But don't you know that you can't send certified mail to a PO box. C'mon LKH the TU supervisor used to work at the Post office...don't try and pull the wool over their eyes! ;)..

That's a great example of contemporaneous notes. Out of anger Lynn sat down and wrote it all out. Too bad we have to get mad before we do that..

Go get em tiger..

Word has it, from VERY relyable sources, that just the filing of a small claims suit for violations like this will get you an easy deletion with TU. They just don't want to deal with it..

Lol..

Hmm well, if tu doesn't do what they are supposed to do for me, i.e. not violate any of the fcra, then I will have to "listen" to the words advice...

Well, that'll be a GREAT new year's present for them. I wonder what their resolutions are?.

1.make consumer's spend as high an interest rate as possible because I can.

2. find out what else I can lie to them about to keep them off of my backs.

3. find out what those freakin' creditnetters real names are... ;)..

Well guess how my CHOD dispute with wife's TU report is going? They have until tomorrow to complete their re-investigation, and guess what I get in the mail today? Two (yes, 2) reports for my wife with totally different tradeline info. Same personal info, with exception to my wife's maiden name inserted before her last name on the 2nd report. No mention of re-investigation results. No changes whatsoever to anything on her report from what I disputed. So far they've racked up 4 violations and I'm still counting..

I'm feeling kinda litigiously nutty..

And I haven't even mentioned my CHOD dispute. I pulled my report today and my it hasn't been updated since last August. NOTHING has changed except the addition of my soft inquiries. I find this is hard to believe since my wife and I share accounts and they are all updating on hers. Hmmmm. I believe I can start counting FCRA violations there as well.

Can anyone say "show me the money?" I've been waiting since my last run-in with Don R at TU and I think I'm going to be less patient this time. But I will wait until the end of next week for the 30+5 day FCRA time for them to send me the results, just in case...

Well, I got a bit of good news today. After three consecutive denials (including my CHOD dispute), I finally got a letter from TU saying that they have actually started my investigation. The nice thing about disputing online is that you get a "time-stamped" email response from TU the moment your dispute is submitted. It makes it hard for them to claim that they never received it! And, who knows, maybe this time they actually will do a real investigation?.

********************************************************************.

Thank you for submitting your dispute.

Thank you for visiting TransUnion.com and using the online dispute process..

TransUnion received your dispute request and will investigate the disputed information. The following steps will now be taken:.

1. TransUnion will contact the company that provided the item with a request to verify the information's accuracy..

2. The company will then advise TransUnion whether any changes should be made to the item..

3. Upon conclusion, within 30 days of the date we received your request, a report reflecting the results of the investigation will be mailed to you via first-class U.S. mail. Please allow 3-5 business days for mail delivery following the completion of our investigation..

If our investigation does not resolve the dispute to your satisfaction, you may add a 100-word consumer statement to your credit report. We will assist you in writing your statement if you request..

When you have a dispute pending, we recommend that you not apply for credit, as the results of the investigation may affect a new credit decision..

If you'd like to see your FICO score, you will need to order your credit report with FICO score..

Again, thank you for visiting TransUnion.com. We look forward to serving you in the future..

TransUnion Customer Support.
