My policy on loaning money to friends and relatives is to only loan it if I can truly afford to never see the cash again.

And they have to give me a budget sheet that explains their expenses (yeup, Im serious).

Ive helped three friends see major holes in their budgets tho and theyve never gotten into trouble again.

Also if you borrow from me and make no attempt to pay me back, I won't hold it against someone (refer to rule 1 about affordability) I wont bring it up ever again, but don't ever ask me again.

Ive never borrowed money with out the same criteria.

You have to see money being lent to a friend of family member as a gift. Only give want you can afford to lose..

Also, remember to keep business and family separate. Don't come over to my house, spend an hour talking, and then right before you leave, hit me up for money. Same goes for lenders, don't harass the borrower, or continue talking about it. I think some people see lending money to others as some kind of power trip...
