I was almost on board for this "Fast" until the article stated no debit card use as well..

IMO if you are spending your cash BUT not on wasteful items the success moniker should still apply..

Then I also read, "no eating/drinking out at all, make it at home"...so that ends it for me 4 sure, as I do eat every now-and-then a small bfast sandwich b4 work and a small soup for lunch from the soupman...waking up earlier than 6:30a to make myself bfast/lunch is not happening..

The $15-20 tops this costs me a week is fantastic cutting back already when working in the heart of expensive NYC..

I went more than 6 mths possibly a yr easily with this.........except window shopping.

Hell I didnt even have cable or internet for a yr (local library only), no cells for three years.

Didnt buy myself clothes at all and did dh work clothes at goodwill (white collar so as long as it kept in good repair had good mileage) and all of the kids clothes at goodwill.

Zero instant food, no soda no eating out, no frivolous car travel.

And cut every coupon stacked every dicount for food etc.

Hell even harrassed people for extra hunting meats (for free) and vegetables from their garden.

We even got our mattress off of craigslist free ads and it wasa brand new stearns and foster.

Theres something to be said for staying independent from debt.

I still don't have an atm on my checking account.

And the only Discover card we use is the amex charge card.

I don't even buy text books for my classes as long as my school has them in the library and only take classes my scholarships cover.

Husband only takes stuff his gi bill covers and then still does tuition reimbursement through his employer.

This is really not that hard except the window shopping bit, though I cant say I did a whole ton of it when we had a firm no driving rule..

I have resolved to do this for 30 days, not even going to buy a candy bar, I decided this 3 days ago and so far so good. I watched this guy's video the other day and he talks about how he can tell with kids as young as even 4 years old who is going to be successful and who isn't, all with a simple marshmallow test. It was about delayed gratification. It's actually pretty interesting..

Very interesting. I wonder if that holds true in ~20 and ~30 years later? Some kids will remain "good" simpy because of strict parenting and supervision. I wonder if they continue even after the supervision is gone and they truely are on their own?.

I liked the girl who ate the inside of the marshmallow lol. "She's going to be successful, but you gotta watch her" lol..

Yeah, I thought she was funny/savvy too. That Stanford study makes a lot of sense. Ive thought about testing my own 4 year old daughter unscientifically and see what happens...

HOW MUCH DOES IT PAY???.

If I don't get any money from doing it....

NOT EVEN ON A DARE.

The.

"SHOPPING".

Part would be real easy.

(AS LONG AS IT WOULDN'T INVOLVE GROCERIES and RESTAURANTS).

Gotta write paper checks?.

Uh...no..

That'd be foolish, paper checks cost money. I thought the point was to eliminate "unnecessary spending"?..

Since when? Every bank I've ever had, including my credit union, has given me free checks..

Cashier checks are a different story. Bank of America wanted to charge me $7 (YES, SEVEN) for a cashier check. They also wanted $5 for a money order...

I SEE NO LOGIC IN DOING THE 21 DAY DEAL.

What would you gain???.

I would have to.

OVER-PAY.

All the bills that are charged to the credit cards.

I would have to buy enough groceries to last more than 21 days.

Or.

I would have to get a bunch of grocery store and restaurant.

GIFT CARDS..

BACKROADS.

Here are 55mph to work.

THE MAIN-DRAG IS ALSO 55mph TO WORK.

(they do have bike lanes...but I would not want to go home that way).

UPHILL MORE THAN NOT ALL THE WAY HOME.

Bikes don't work too good when there is.

WHITE POLLUTION.

All over the roads..
