My question is Does Costco accept Discover Card or personal checks? Thanks in advance for any comment. Second question.. I got the letter everyone else has been getting from Chase advising they were going to triple my interest rate unless I closed the account..

I paid it down, but didn't close it. However, they still haven't changed the interest rate..

Is Chase backing down from these crazy interest hikes, or is my account just an oversite? Should I expect that if they catch it, they're going to try to back bill me the difference from my old interest rate to the date they said the new interest would be in effect?..

Of course! but... you might want to make sure and wait for another member to confirm this as I am not sure. Better yet, why don't you ask the Discover Card guys because they can help better...

Possibly paying (with Discover card) it down put you in a different category...

Thanks for the replies!.

The letter said my December statement would reflect the interest hike..

That'd be good news if my "category" has changed so that they're not hiking the rate now. Even better news if it turned out that they were rethinking their strategy of trying to screw everyone with the crazy rate increases..

I had two accounts with them; a business account and this personal account, and they sent me a letter for each one. I closed the business account as a result of the letter, but kept this personal account open...

Lol...something similar happened to me with BOA...whatever you do, don't call them. Me and my lower rate are keeping quiet...

Same boat. Citi said they were hiking me from 11.2 to 29.99 and it has yet to happen..

I think it might have to do with me completely discontinuing use of the card after I received the letter. I didn't even call in to bitch about it, I just switched to using Amex and Discover..

Thanks so much for the feedback about the similar circumstances!.

Sounds like the banks might be rethinking their strategies a little..

(And NO WAY I'd call them and ask them why it didn't go up!)..

Same here. They RJed earlier to 18.99%. Then said they would go to 22.99% on Dec 20, although they had.

This complicated super-lame scheme that would give me 9.99% temporarily if I made a >= $3k BT. (It was super-lame because they keep sending me much better BT offers all the time.) My response was to cut usage to almost nothing per month. Always PIF. So far no RJ. It's my oldest card; so I'm keeping, just with a few very small charges per month...

Thanks Trevor. It's not so bad; I did cancel the business card, so got locked in at 12% on a big balance there. But on this card, I'm almost paid off..

When they told me they were RJ'ing both cards, I got 2 new cards with lower interest because I wasn't sure what closing the business card would do to my credit. However, they're still reporting the original credit line on the closed account, so it wasn't much of a hit..

I got the same notice, saying my (already sky high) Amazon.com card would go from 19.99% to 23.99 in December. Didn't happen.

Maybe they forgot?..

You lose the account (now or later)....

BUT YOU CAN'T WIN IF YOU ARE STILL paying (with Discover card) INTEREST.

Why accept the.

4.00% APR JACKAGE???.

(assuming this is not your only account)..

Be sure to keep your eyes peeled afterwards..

There's been stories of Chase ratejacking even after the account is supposedly "closed" and the rates "locked in."..

PIF, and I never carry a balance. It used to be my card for Amazon purchases, prior receiving my Citi Forward. I keep the card because there is no AF and it is one of my older accounts...
