Got a quick question: Do you have a Citi Platinum Select Discover Card? Hoping for any comment. Second question of mine... Hi everyone! It has been quite some time since I've been on the forums. I've missed it here, and I'm really looking forward to being around more.. |

I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I got an answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could help you..

Welcome back.
What are your scores like now? Have you looked into Patelco? I've LOVED them...zero issues with them the years I've had it.. |
|
Find a local cu asap..
Use them for banking for a bit, then ask for credit... |

Hi guys! Thanks for the warm welcome back..
CreditBoyRoy. And. Johnnyt6. , you're right about the CU! A few years ago DH and I did try to join one (that he was eligible for through his employer) but they had pretty bad customer service, so we passed. There are a few more that have popped up, though, so I definitely need to go check them out!. CreditBoyRoy. , about the Macy's... just give it some time! Hopefully they will show you the luv back. My Macy's converted from a Rich's accountit was my first ever TL, so I think the history with them helps. Now if only they'd give me the Visa, we'd be best buds!. Pryan67. , hi there! I recognize you! My EQ is 698. Because they're still reporting an ancient baddie, they *should* be my lowest but you know how that is. I do need to check my others to see where they're at. I have never checked into Patelco, but I am off to do that right now!. To any newbies reading this: hang in there, and don't give up. When I first joined I was being chased by CAs and was even sued by a bottom-feeder JDB, but CB helped me clean up my credit & my life. There was hope for me, and there's hope for you too. It is all thanks to CB that I am where I am today!. This post has been edited by. Sadgirl. : 07 January 2010 - 09:12 AM.. |

I'd also suggest looking into Alliant CU. Great place to have a savings account and, based on the Credit Pulls database, you might get approved for their card upon opening an account..

Thanks,.
CreditBoyRoy. ! I'll definitely take a look at them.. Well, I just got off the phone with BofA, and they're still saying that I have sufficient credit with them based on my income.. They love my hubby & will constantly give him CLI, but I'm still stuck at the piddly $500 limit that I had when it was a. Fully secured card. !. Oh well, their loss, right? They're going in the sock drawer as soon as I find a replacement!.. |

My thoughts.....
Cap1 would probably give you a card under their credit steps program and you could always see what comes up with the Orchard Pre-selector. Pre-meltdown I would have thought Hooters might be a good match but not so sure anymore.. Best bet...hit the credit pulls database and look at recent approvals.. Oh, and I also recommend finding a good CU. Mine gave me my first five figure limit ($7,000) when my reports looked similar to yours although my my highest limit at the time was a $1,000 Hooters card. If you have any military affiliation, USAA and NFCU are both excellent lenders.. Don't expect much from BoA right now. They have been slashing lines and balance chasing people for the last few months. Not many people happy with them around here..heh.. EDIT:. Missed the part where your lowest score was in the 700 range. That opens up quite a bit as long as your utilization is good. Definitely hit the DB and see what pops up.. This post has been edited by. Thanks for the help,.
Jtoast. ! Nope, no military affiliation here, and I think Cap1 & Orchard/HSBC would probably both be no-gos as I had charge offs with them both. I did take a look at the CB database, though, and saw some promising leads.. I decided to try for Chase since they were generous with DH and we have both been happy with their CS. I got the "further processing needed" message for the Amazon Visa, but I'm hoping that I'll get a card in the mail & not a rejection letter!. I do think that a CU would probably be the best bet, at least for the long-term. We will probably be moving within the next 6 months, though, so I guess I should look for good online CUs. Any recommendations? I am looking at both Patelco and Alliant (the ones mentioned earlier in the thread). We'd be using this for savings, checking, and Discover credit card (possibly an auto loan within a few years as well)... |

Both of those are good. I currently use USAA for most of my online banking. I've never used a better online banking web site before. It simply rocks! Everything from their bill pay to transfers is just incredibly user-friendly..
I have one local CU (Stone-age online banking) and also have a savings account through Lockheed FCU (also an easy-to-use online setup).. This spring I'll be starting my own business and plan on using Alliant for that. After that, I think I might be happy for a while!.. |
