Got a question... Do most people have either a Visa or Discover Card in their wallet, or both? Thanks for any response. Another question I got... Hello everyone! I am very new to this site. I am trying to buy a home and am trying my hardest to repair some things so that I can get my credit score to the 620. I was able to get it up to 589 TU / 631 EF / 660 EX but my mortgage broker has noticed that I have about 11 accounts that says Account information disputed by Consumer in "my comments". |

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I discover an answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could assist you..

Does anyone know of a mortgage company that will be a little easier to deal with in regards to getting a FHA loan? I've now requested that the credit agency take the disputes off, so they are now open disputes that will hold me up everywhere...until they tell me yes or no.....

From my experience, from reading the boards, the underwriters want to see a pretty clean report. Any negatives that you have, they'll want you to pay. But before you go off paying (with Discover card) anyone, remember a paid collection/Co is just as bad as unpaid one. If you do decide you want to try and negotiate deals with them, I'd do a Pay for Delete..
However, before any of that, have you gone through each TL to see if you can see if there's. Anything. Reporting incorrectly to see if you can get it deleted that way?. This post has been edited by. Beli. : 09 January 2010 - 08:37 AM.. |

What about removing dispute notations over the phone or online? Since this info always comes from the consumer, it seems that the CRA wouldn't care about removing it...
|
|
I'm really hoping that that is the case here. If they put it just as a notation for me, then they will take it off....
My mortgage guy thinks it will be much harder though... |

I tried reaching them a few times on the phone yesterday and obviously the number I had was not the one for speaking for a live person. I couldn't get anyone on the phone! I could get a copy of my report if I put enough info into the telephone system, however.....

Sometimes the age of the collection is helping your score more than the collection is hurting your score. If you remove old TL's, even neg. ones, your score could drop. And, if your scores are close to the 620 cut off, you may not be approved for the loan..
Beware of unintended consequence....... It does happen.. My friend just got approved for a home loan, and he was only a few points above the 620 mark. He approached me about cleaning his credit, to maybe get a better rate. He was SO close, I said, "Pay the collections (of course I made sure the rep told him this would help his credit score, thus subjecting them to CROA) and we will clean the reports up later. After closing on your new home.". His collections were under 2k total, so it was not a big hit to him.. Food for thought, OP. Dont get scared or feel helpless because of my comments. I just want to make sure you are aware of ALL scenarios... |

You need an account # to talk to a live person. (at least with Experian.. if that's who we're talking about)..

The debt total is closer to $30,000 (and this doesn't have any cars or mortgages...just credit cards) which I absolutely don't have enough money, even now, to pay off...even if I negotiated something with them....
I was told that I would still get the mortgage even with all of the bad items as soon as the word dispute come off my reports....so I guess they are staying.. This post has been edited by. Jean1968. : 09 January 2010 - 02:14 PM.. |

I also wanted to mention that I was an authorized user on 2 of my mothers credit cards. She died in 2008 and the Discover card found this information out and cancelled the card immediately. My father was only an authorized user also...so my father had to pay the $10,000+ balance in full but we discovered from my credit report that in 2006 there was 2 (30 day) late payments and it is actually on my credit report. Would it be worth it to ask the credit bureau to take off this Discover card from their records? Do you think it's affecting my score much?..

I was told that, because it had 2 late payments it wasn't helping my credit score...I know I can't tell them to take it off now because I don't want any more disputes to kill my chances for a new house. But, I wander if it will be worth my while to take my name off the account when I have the house issue settled?..
