First question I got is Discover Card FEE'S HELP ME PLEASE - ANYBODY? Thanks for any comment. Second question of mine... I left the USA in Nov. 2005 and used the "Fleet Post Office" (FPO) military retirees address. Collection letters have been few and far between..

I have not asked for credit report since 2004 (6 years)..

I am returning to the USA next September (2010) and want to begin to repair any bad credit and build credit in the meantime from here in the Philippines..

My last act on credit was to pay IN FULL my auto loan in 2005 after a two year loan history with no late pays. (paid off 15,000.00 in Nov 05). Prior to that, was charged of on Discover card debt (7,000) in 2003. Collection agencies were rampant back then...but have not heard a 'peep' in almost 2 years now..

QUESTION FOR THE FORUM:.

How do I start from scratch to find out what my current credit profile looks like WITHOUT Triggering problems based on old debt..

I intend to move to Seattle WA or Portland OR. Last physical address was in Montana in 2005. Since then I have had the FPO address overseas..

I have done NOTHING to trigger any activity in the past 5 years except to pay off my auto loan in full..

WHERE DO I START and what should I AVOID doing at this stage?.

THANKS!!.

HOSS..

Thanks for the quick reply! Stupid question, how do I 'pull reports' from overseas? What is the best method, going online or snail mail requests? Should I pay for reports or get something "free"....

I went to MyFico.com just now and ordered reports using the discount sticky. I filled out all info and used my debit card for payment. Here is the notice they posted:.

Nope..

I suspect they want to verify it's you as you are accessing info from outside of the country. Pulling your own reports does not wake up anyone lurking as the action is not shared with creditors...

Since you haven't pulled your credit reports in years, go to annualcreditreport.com. It'll be free, since you get one free report per year...

Could be since OP is using an FPO the CRA cannot verify his identity and location...

He needs his real scores and current info as he is about to make major steps when returning to the States...disputing from ACR.com will not do...

I would think you would have to actually be in the USA living at an address that they can.

"LOOK UP".

Then I would just get paper reports.

DIRECT FROM EXPERIAN...TRANS UNION...and EQUIFAX..
