Quick question... Can I buy a prepaid Discover Card, and in what store? Looking forward for any comment. My 2nd question... I need to get my BK off my CR asap. My mortgage guy is telling me that is causing my scores to hover mid 500's given my new credit. How should I dispute on all 3 CR to get it off early.. |

You betcha! but... you might want to make sure and wait for another member to confirm this as I am not very confident. Better yet, why don't you give a call to the Discover Card guys because they can give you help better...

I agree that it is NOT the BK7 public record that is causing your score issue. I had low 700s with fairly high utilization two years ago, and my bk7 was filed in May 2000. So by your mortgage guy's logic, my score should have been below yours at mid 500's..
Now, to directly answer your question, you can dispute it as obsolete and probably get one or more of the CRAs to drop it. I know I have had luck even 5 years out.. You need to get some new credit and build up your scores... |
|
How'd you have luck 5 years out? I can't get.
ANY. Cra's to delete it 7 years out. I've tried the Obsolete I've tried everything. It's stuck like glue on mine... |
|
I have had EQ drop it twice. They deleted it...reinserted it, and deleted again upon dispute. I simply disputed as not mine. This even after they had a copy of the paperwork from previous disputes. Lucky? probably so!..

Your mortgage guy is full of shi$ and does not have a clue. Look at my scores and my BK is reporting on all 3..
Your bk has virtually no impact on your score at this point, there must be other issues on your CR. If you answer some of the below questions I'm sure we'd be able to determine the correct reason your scores are so low.. 1- What TL's do you have on your CR?. 2- What are the avg age of these TL's?. 3- Do you have any other negatives?. 4- Have you been applying for credit?. 5- What is your UT?. I personally would not dispute the BK at this point with it being so close to coming off. Your don€™t want any reason for the credit agencies to mess something on your report up because of the dispute.. Furthermore, you may see a short terms score drop when the BK comes off, especially if you don€™t have any TL€™s with nice age.. This post has been edited by. +1. My scores crossed into 700 territory around 2 years after BK. My wife was up to 740s in same time...

I have plenty of new CL's. I have 2 First Premiers that are both 3 years old with perfect history. I have a Target card that is 2 yrs old with perfect history. I have a GE Online Services credit line that is about 2.5 yrs old with perfect history. I also have a fingerhut acct that is 1 yr old, perfect history. I just opened a Jared and Kay account with a $1500 limit...
My CCT is showing 88% total credit available. I have a medical collection from 07 with a balance of $17. Which I plan on paying (with Discover card) off next month. An Americredit Auto Loan for $22k, only 1 month old. Prior I had a Chase auto loan with no lates.... No activity for 2 years on that account. An Asset account that I just paid off and they agreed to delete, so i'm hoping that will go away soon. A capital one account that i'm currently fighting on SOL...... with a $1600 balance. Two more cap ones that are paid zero balance.. |

Sounds like Arrow is what's bringing your score down, along with a couple other Misc CA's/ Capital one account's. I believe Arrow is part of ACA have you contacted them to see if they can help? You can go to here.
Http://www.acainternational.org/. To see if they are. If they are I suggest filing a complaint with ACA and demand deletions due to FCRA violations.. Were any of these included in your bankruptcy? If they were contact your old bankruptcy lawyer. I had to get mine involved with Capt one because they refused to update the TL.. This post has been edited by. Beli. : 31 December 2009 - 01:20 PM.. |

Baddies after BK. Not the BK causing your score problem. You have open collections afterward and a bad cap one? Those are your killers. Your score will still be low after BK comes off...
|
|
What FCRA violations do I state? None were IIB. These were all new accounts I used to re-establish credit, then hubby and I both lost our job. So now I'm trying to re-establish yet again...

I suggest start doing searches(Reading newbies section, if you haven't yet or need a refresher course). There are loads of information on how a CA should be reporting as well as the Manual around here somewhere. Just do a search, you should be able to find the information you need...

Besides what everyone above me is mentioning your average age (in the 2 year range, given the timeline you provided) is low, this is also impacting your score in a negative way. I'm not saying it's bad just not positive..
And forget about what FAKO says, I€™m 99% sure your FICO did not jump 40 points for the new Kay & Jared accounts.. This post has been edited by. Nyrfann. : 31 December 2009 - 01:42 PM.. |

+1.
Do you even know what your Fico is?. I agree with everyone else in this thread, those collections and avg. are what's hurting you.. I wouldn't even mess with the BK, no need to wake the sleeping giant when it's so close to falling off... |
|
My score watch on myfico just said 562 equifax. Last score update was in April and was 520.......i just got a score update. I havent pulled TU.

|

Arrows collection company is coming after me. I need to get a DV letter out to them next week. There is a post on here somplace about "Redline Recovery" where I mention they are coming after me. No suit yet, although since I've been paying (with Discover card) the rest off I'm sure that will be soon. I just paid one Cap One COllection off and Arrow is all I have left to pay...
